You will have to contact the courts or the child support recovery unit who handles your case to find out how much back support you owe. You will owe this amount even when the child turns 18 and your order is cancelled.

Sadly, many custodial parents will never ever see their back support despite all the efforts by the prosecutors office, etc. Unfortunately some non custodial parents get good at dodging their responsibilities by changing their appearance, name, and job hopping pretty much dropping off the face of the earth.

Dont give up hope. Ive been dealing with this stuff for 14 years and heres some tips

If you have even the slightest bit of information on the noncustodial parent, report it immediately. I found the loser on a Myspace page and I reported it. Printed up the page and sent it to the prosecutors office. They found him through that little piece of information and garnished his wages until he quit his job and moves elsewhere. but I found him again

you can try tax refund intercept, check with the prosecutors office in the county that your case resides and see if there is an order in place. Even if there isnt, they can check and see if hes filed taxes and is getting a refund.

Leans can be put on houses and cars too.

I sure hope you see your back support, it can be a frustrating process. Keep trying.

contact the child support office that controls your payments and request a balance printout which will include backpay owed and current support levels. Then take that monthly amount and multiply it by the amount of months until the child turns 18. you can also go to the child support agencies website where the balance and backpay owed should be available
