Not likely . If the president dies, the VP would become the president and he would nominate someone to be the new vice president. He would choose someone from his own party and the Congress would not likely reject a nominee just because he was from the same party as the president. If his nominee was rejected he could keep submitting names until he found someone Congress would agree to.
I don't think the parties have to be the same, but they usually are because the president wants a vice that will support him or her.
Republican and Democrat
The Republican and Democrat Parties.
Today ALL US parties and politicians are in favour of the Civil Rights act. But it was Democrat president Kennedy who had it drafted and Democat President Johnson who guided it through Congress. In all fairness, most Republicans voted in favour of the Civil Rights Act as well and a minority of Republican AND Democrat congressmen voted against it. But that had mostly to do with their Southern States background, not with the convictions of the Democrat and Republican parties as a whole.
In the US? Democrat and Republican. There used to be a Wig party.
Republican, in a time when the parties were much different from their current forms.

Republican and Democrat
No. Anyone can win, but the two parties have the most power.
Ireland is neither republican nor democrat. Ireland has different political parties. Ireland is a democracy and it is a republic.

He was a Democrat when he was younger, but in the mid 1950's he began supporting Republican candidates, notably Dwight Eisenhower in 1956. He supported Richard Nixon for President in 1960, and officially changed parties to become a registered Republican in 1962. As he put it- he never left the Democratic Party-- they left him.
