The question as stated is nearly impossible to answer; no axis would mean no spin at all, from any perspective. It might be better to think of the question this way: What would happen in the earth's axis were not as stable as it currently is? The moon plays an important role in maintaining the stability of the axis, and this goes a long way (so far) to keep the seasons happening, and to keep the poles from tilting over so far that the sun can do major damage to the ice caps. Without a moon, the axis would become unstable, and the seasons and the stability of the ice caps would go haywire. Had earth not paired up with her satelite, it is quite possible that she would never have been able to sustain life as we know it.

If the earth didn't rotate, then the time between one sunrise and the next one would be 365.25 days (a year).

It's probably accurate to suspect that with nominally 6-month periods of light and dark everywhere, life on earth would be impossible.

If the Earth was not spinning AT ALL, then the day would be the same length as the year. The Sun's heat would all be on the daylight side, and the night side would be very cold. Life might not be possible under those conditions, or at least it would be very different than it is now.

If the Earth did not rotate it would be void of any life, one side would be a waterless desert the other side would be a frozen wasteland.

The first answer describes a scenario of a planet that rotates at the same rate that it orbits, like the way Earth's moon rotates at the same rate that it orbits Earth. If Earth didn't rotate, a day would be the same length as a year, like at the poles of Uranus.

-- Daylight would be 6 months long, and it would get much hotter during the day.

-- Night-time darkness would also be 6 months long, and it would get much colder

during the night.

-- Weather systems would not circulate. Winds would blow straight into

low-pressure centers, and straight out of centers of high pressure.

-- The plane of the Foucault pendulum's oscillation would not rotate.

Also, the Earth's magnetic field would probably disappear and the ocean tides

would (more or less) disappear too.

If the earth was not rotating the side facing the sun would become incredibly hot and the far side would be permanently subzero cold.

Gravity is created by the mass of the earth not by it's spin, in fact the earths rotation causes us to feel slightly less gravity compared to if it wasn't spinning.

Other things being equal, the Sun would rise and set once a year.

What would it take for earth to reverse its spin?

A great force would be required. - Among other things, there is a law of conservation of rotational momentum. This means that rotational momentum would have to be transferred somewhere else for this to happen.

If the earth spins faster would the moon go faster around the earth?

No. The speed of the moon's orbit does not depend on Earth's spin; it depends on Earth's mass. However, a faster spin on Earth's part would make the moon appear to move across the sky faster, as it would for the sun and stars.

NO

What will happen to the weight of the object if the earth were to rotate faster than its present speed?

The apparent force of gravity on earth is not the same all over, the spin of the earth means that you weigh less at the equator than at the poles, due to the centripetal force from the earths spin. You will weigh about 0.3% less at the equator. If the earth spun faster still, this difference would be even more apparent.

What would happen if time zones didn't exist?
