If the (adult) child has been properly diagnosed with the disorder NPD, therapy can be somewhat helpful, but most narcissists refuse therapy and won't cooperate with it, because the disorder makes them believe nothing can ever be wrong with them.

But there are actually 3 possible scenarios:

1. The adult child may be fully NPD, and therefore, not at all likely to accept the years of professional help it would require.

2. The adult child may just have a couple of NPD traits (fewer than the 5 required to be truly NPD) and might try to accept some help at some point.

3. The adult child may not have any NPD traits at all, but simply has maladaptive behavior patterns that they picked up from their NPD parent. (Sometimes people call that "fleas", and it's common.)

It's often said that if a person is troubled by the fact that they may be a narcissist, they're probably not a narcissist. That's because narcissists can't accept the possibility they're imperfect, or simply wouldn't care if it were true anyhow.

For more about fleas, do some Googling of the word "fleas" with the word "narcissist". That will bring up some stuff to read.

Is it possible to be raised with a narcissistic parent and not become narcissistic?

It is highly likely that a child raised by very narcissistic parents will not become narcissistic. They might struggle to undo enmeshment, dependence, and approval seeking behaviors. It depends on how much the child perceives his or her own sense of otherness in comparison to his or her parent.

What meaning lack of parental supervision?

The meaning of parental supervision is simply making sure there is a parent that is watching a child or children at all times. This can also mean that a parent is raising a child responsibly and isn't simply letting the child do what ever they want.

Is it normal behavior for a narcissist's parents to go along with whatever the narcissist tells them to do?

There are many cases where the Narcissistic personality is learned from their environment and perhaps one parent or both can be Narcissistic. No matter whether one is Narcissistic or not, parents will often back their children when it comes to different problems whether their children are right or wrong. Even some of my own friends with children in their late teens to their 20s will make up rediculous excuses for their child's behavior. To parents whether their child is 5 - 55 that person is still the parent's child. Unless this person has had a diagnosis from a professional you are second-guessing they are a Narcissist and they could simply be a spoiled brat, selfish, inconsiderate, moody, self indulgent or a plain pain in the butt!

Do narcissitic father play games with childrens feelings emotins?

Narcissistic parents can be very destructive, sometimes intentionally, often accidentally. They usually think they own their child or that the child is an extension of them and so should do, be, and think everything the narcissist wants them to. When the child disappoints simply by being their own unique self the parent feels betrayed and defied and usually punishes the child in some way. There are several articles on narcissism on this website:www.ultimate-self.com

Can a father of a child file for joint custody to avoid child support?

There are two types of custody, legal and physical. With joint custody the child may dwell with the other parent for part of the time or with one parent all of the time with visitations for the other parent. It depends on the details and the state child support guidelines. If the child spends equal time living with each parent the child support obligations will be effected. However, it is unfair to disrupt a child's life simply to avoid paying child support. Can a narcissistic cause addiction to their kids?

A narcissist doesn't necessarily have an addictive personality, so medically speaking these two disorders are not directly linked. However if a parent never pays attention to his or her child, the child may turn to addictive substances for comfort.
