It is possible that Elizabeth and Anne, Mary's mother, were sisters but there is no way to verify this as no scripture or tradition speaks to it. Also, neither Hebrew nor Aramaic have a word for cousin so Elizabeth could have been any close blood relative of Mary.

Why did Jesus choose the Baptist movement?

God chose John to baptize people in order to pave the way for Jesus the Messiah.Another answerMandate of Israel:Yeshua never chose the baptist movement, and neither did He found/chose any of the churches. The claim of the church is misleading. He already had a Congregation called Israel which His own Father founded at Mt. Horev. Yeshua was sent to redeem Israel and to rebuild the "The Congregation" that the leaders of Israel was failing to establish.
