I have a female Shih Tzu and she's in heat and also have a 3 mo old male dachshund. Should I be worried about him getting her pregnant?

If your Dachshund is not neutered and they live together, then yes, it is very possible for him to get her pregnant. If you don't show your Shih Tzu and there is no other reason to keep her unaltered, it is strongly recommended to get her spayed -- this will obviously eliminate any possibility of her accidentally getting pregnant, and can have other health benefits as well (decreased risk of certain kinds of cancers for example).

∙ 6y agoMale dogs become fertile at 6 months and are sexually mature at about 1 year. I think you are safe with the Dachshund, but other dogs in the area could impregnate the female.
