I am bipolar how do you go about getting diagnosed and helped with no medical insurance or employment?

Have you previously been diagnosed by a Psychiatrist or is this self-diagnosing?
If you've been previously diagnosed, you need to speak to the Mental Health offices of the Social Services program in your city or county. They will put you in touch with free or low-cost treatment options and help you apply for Medicaid and SSD if necessary.
If you are self-diagnosing, and even if you're a trained clinician, you need to get an actual diagnosis from a trained psychiatrist. This applies even to trained psychiatrists. You need a neutral, competent diagnosis.
This is not just because the Social Service people in your area can't help you as much without a diagnosis, but because you might have a completely different condition from what you believe you have. Don't assume that simply because you've read the DSM-IV that you can make a diagnosis of yourself anymore than you should assume that reading a book on cardiac conditions qualifies you to diagnose a leaking heart valve.
Talk to the Social Service people about days for free mental health screenings in your are to get a proper diagnoses.
