Check which version of Excel you have (maybe 2003?) and make sure the file was created on the same version or earlier. If someone has sent you a file created on Excel 2007, you can bang on the keyboard all you want but it won't open if you have an older version. Phil

∙ 10y agoFirst you need the version of Excel that the files were created in, or a later version. The open Excel. Go to the File menu or the Office button or press Ctrl - O and select the option to open your file. Once you find it, Excel should be able to open it.
