The easiest method is to weigh the water ... weigh the cup empty and full and

take the difference ... and then divide the weight by the acceleration of gravity.

Since the acceleration of gravity is well known on Earth, that method is accurate

and easy, but it wouldn't work in another place where you didn't already know

the value of that quantity.

The massing of a liquid in beaker is relatively simple procedure. The first step is to zero the scale. Second, an empty, clean, and dry beaker should then be massed. The mass should be recorded. The beaker than should be massed again with liquid. The liquid mass can then be mathematically derived by subtracting the initial mass from the final. As density, mass and volume are related, temperature should be measured and recorded as a control.

1st: Find the area of the bottom of the cup times the depth of water. = volume of straight cylindrical portion of water in the cup

2nd: then find the area of the top of the tapered portion, subtract the area of the

bottom of the cup.

3rd: multiply answer of 2nd by water depth x 1/2, this gives the volume of the tapered portion of the cup.

4rth: add volume 1st to volume in 3rd. = total volume of water in the cup.

Water has a simple mass to volume conversion:

1 mL = 1 g

So, once you have the volume of water in the cup in milliliters, you also have the mass of water in grams.

Example: 50 mL = 50 g

Weigh the water while in the beaker. Empty the water and weight the empty beaker. Subtract the 2nd weight from your original weight, and you'll have the mass of the water.

How do you make a colonial paper?

Rags were pounded into pulp with hammers, and placed in water. The mixture was constantly stirred so it would never settle in the bottom. After a certain amount of time, the mixture was poured out and put in a special machine, (i think...) and the color depended on the rags and water. Later about 1770, when rags became scarce because of the amount of paper makers, different things were tried. Wood was finally discovered and that's how we make it today!
