As with any child, there will be both sadness and joy. Initially sadness because the mother worries that her child will never be able to lead a "normal" life. Joy, because Down's Syndrome people tend to be unusually cheerful, friendly, empathetic and loving. People with DS can have very happy and fulfilling lives.

I personally feel that the Down syndrome babies are especially cute. But on a more serious note, who would want a child that is handicapped (not that I'm saying that that's bad).

God doesn't create mistakes, so I mean I would keep the child and love it as if it were a regular child. After all, a person is a person, no matter the condition. A Down child will need the same type of love as a normal child -- but just a little more attention.

Why do people call Down Syndrome Down's?

Down syndrome is the correct term. People who are using "Downs" are speaking incorrectly. Down syndrome used to be called Down's syndrome, but since John Langdon Down did not have nor "invent" this chromosomal abnormality, the correct name is Down syndrome. Countries such as the UK, still use the term Down's syndrome, but shortening it to Down's is not using people first language, therefore, it is incorrect.
