Regular Class A uniform, which I think is now the Dress Blue Uniform.. when I was in, Class A was what is now called the Army Green Uniform. Either one will suffice.
Yes, you can - as long as you are not part of an official military burial detail or honor guard. However - in respect to the military service of the deceased, it would be honorable to wear your uniform.

Hi there, I believe the dress (top hat etc) of a funeral director goes back to Victorian Times and is simply a matter of tradition and to demonstrate respect for the deceased. Nowadays, there are many kinds of funeral service - varying by belief, religon and individual taste. Many contemporary funerals move away from the traditional dress and customs.
Typically Dress Blues are used for funerals, but you are in a tropical climate. You can check with the Naval Base, they would be able to tell you.
Is this thread still active? A few years ago I bought a vintage dress that looks so much like the funeral dress in Hope Floats. I was shocked when I found it.
