Spanish is categorized as a Romance language. For it traces its origins back to the long-ago interactions between the Latin language of the ancient Romans and the ancient languages of the Iberian Peninsula. There are major and minor languages within the Romance category. The two phrases refer to the total numbers of speakers. Examples of major languages are French, Italian, Portuguese, Romanian, and Spanish. Exampes of minor languages are the Catalan language of Barcelona; and the Galician of northwestern Spain. Even with a limited beginning vocabulary, it's easy to guess what Spanish words may be. It's even easier for the individual who knows Latin. For that knowledge helps the individual to predict quite correctly what the word will be in Spanish based upon the known changes of words, over time, from Latin into each one of the Romance languages. Many language learners take up the study of Spanish, because they believe it to be an easy language. Indeed, the grammatical rules are simple, and the spelling predictable. But two challenges are the diversity within spoken Spanish, and the speed with which the language is spoken. Fortunately, there are many aids to becoming fluent in Spanish. For Spanish culture draws upon a big historical body of music, literature, and film. And there are many places to choose from when it's time to put learning skills into practice, in real life. For there are Spanish speaking communities throughout the world. And so if travel to Another Country isn't possible, then contact with speakers within one's own country is a viable alternative.

Did the spanish language originate in Spain?

Origination of the Spanish LanguageAnswerSince Spanish is derived from Latin, the earliest possible date for the origin of Spanish can't be any earlier than when the Romans started to settle in the Iberian Peninsula - c. 200BC. However, it would make better sense to go for the date when Latin spoken there began to diverge from Latin spoken elsewhere. I'd would be very skeptical of any date before 150BC, and that would be for a distant forerunner, not really Spanish.AnswerThe language was formed some time after the Moors settled in, so after 700 A.D. They were conquered by 1492 and after that they (Spaniards) began traveling into the New World spreading their language which was pretty much "Spanish" as we know it. Be aware that various regions have their own dialect as well as their own languages. AnswerWhen Spain was liberated from the Moors, the two kingdoms that headed the "Reconquista" (Re-conquering) of Spain were Castilla, the strongest kingdom, and Aragon. The language of Castilla was the Castilian, now called Spanish, because all Spain was under the rule of Castilla after they conquered the New World and became the mightiest empire in the world at that time. After that, all Spain, beside the different languages spoken in other provinces, (Catalonia, Leon, Galicia, etc) , started to speak in Castilian or Spagnoli as it is also known, and spread in the conquered territories.

What was the language spoken to the Jews in Spain?

If you had just asked what language the Jews of Spain spoke, the question would have been easy. Jews spoke to one-another in Ladino, also known as Judaeo-Spanish. They also spoke the standard Spanish of the time. What language was spoken to Jews depends on who was speaking to them. Muslims (Arabs, Muladíes, and Amazigh/Moors) would typically speak to them in Arabic. Spaniards would usually speak to them in the various Spanish languages, like Old Castilian, Leonese, Old Catalonian and Aragonese. The Spanish languages and Ladino are more-or-less mutually intelligible, so the Jews could respond in Ladino.

What languages would not be of Indo-European origin?

Most languages not in Europe. Finnish, Estonian and Hungarian and other Uralic languages are not indo European languages in origin. Persian, and languages developed from Sanskrit (ie Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, punjabi etc.) ARE indo-European. Maltese is not. Telugu, Kannada, and Tamil are Indian languages that are Dravidian, not related to Sanskrit. You weren't very specific so this is the best I can do, sorry.

Depends of your background. If you are Chinese, you would find european languages difficult. If you speak an European language like English, then other European languages (French, Spanish) should be the easiest languages to learn, and languages using other alphabets (Chinese mandarin or Cantonese, Russian, Arabic, Hebrew, Japanese...) will present more difficulties.
