Jesus came to earth for one specific reason, "To offer Himself as a living sacrifice for mankind sins, and to prove beyond any doubts that God The Father is merciful, and forgiving."
Jesus' birth (conception) was very unique. His Mother Mary was a virgin and she conceived Jesus we are told in Luke 1:34-35, "And the angel answered and said to her, the Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you". This is why Jesus is called the Son of God. As for the birth its self Jesus was born in the normal way except Mary was a virgin.
Why did a merciful and forgiving god want his own son to be tortured to death? What would this achieve?

Jesus was originally created in heaven as the first of God's creations (Colossians 1:15)(Revelation 3:14)(Proverbs 8:22), but when he came to earth as the foretold Messiah(Isaiah 7:14/Matthew 1:23)(Isaiah 9:6/Luke 1:35), he was born in the usual human way, from his mother, Mary(Luke 2:5-7). He had to be BORN into the tribe of Judah (the kingly tribe) to be 'legally' elegible to rule God's Kingdom(Genesis 49:8-10/Revelation 5:5/Matthew 25:6). Joseph(Matthew 1:3-16) and Mary(Luke 3:23+33) both came from the tribe of Judah.
