My husband recently died and the autopsy cited acute endocartitis as the cause of death. He was 64, we thought extremely healthy, and living normally. It was discovered in the autopsy that he had a rheumatic heart which had never been diagnosed. He had a long standing ear infection over the past few months caused by a spark from a welder in November. It was treated by washing out the ear and with antibiotics. It drained clear liquid for some time. I am not second guessing anyone but am wondering if the ear infection led to his death. He had no other cuts or scrapes that would cause a problem.
