There are so many things to do to prepare for a kitten! First of all: 1. Prepare yourself with supplies. There is nothing worse you can do than be unsupplied! Some supplies you will probably need are: - litter box - kitty litter - various toys --- jingling or crinkling balls, catnip, feathers on a stick, ect. - cat carrier [for easy vet-transportation] - cat toothpaste and shampoo for aiding hygeine [cats clean themselves, but sometimes they just downright need a good ol' bath!] although they scratch you to bits!!

- scratching post - plush cat bed - nail clippers [you will need to clip your cat's nails about once every two weeks unless [s]he is declawed.] - cat food - dry pellets, wet food in a can, and fresh water ALWAYS - cat food bowl & water bowl - collar & identification/rabies/other tags Also, be prepared with vet numbers, poison control numbers, anything you might need if your furry friend has an emergency! Not to mention, you should rid your house with everything that is poisonous to cats. Cats are not like dogs, so don't expect them to fetch or anything like that. Cats love to eat, even when they aren't hungry, so only feed them at least twice, maybe less, times a day. Same rule goes with food, but just in case they get dehydrated, you should always refill it. The number 1 thing you should know is care (Vet) and House rules. When you first bring your cat home you should be prepared for your cat to run and hide. The cat may be a little scared at first because of the new surroundings, but it will soon get used to it. You of course should always take your cat to the vet for a inspection every couple of months to make sure it's health is in good shape. The most trouble with pets a lot is... Well, you know accidents. Cats, luckily learn how to use litterboxes. If your cat makes a accident just clean it up, don't get angry and yell at them. Having a pet living with you is a lot of responsibility. Some cats shed alot of hair and some don't. If you have rugs, they will most likely pull on it. Tell them nicely not to. When i had a cat my dad built a wood 3D frame and we filled in the middle safely with more wood and outlined it with 2 layers of carpet. If you are not sure where to place it, i put mine in the back of my parents door where there was floor. Teach the cat not to pull on the rug and to pull on the wood frame. Next, you need the litter box. In my hallway in my house, theres a tiny closet. There is no shelf on the bottom and there is just an opening to fit a box. We carefully carved a square hole at the bottom. This makes an opening for the cat to go do their business in. If you do not have anything similar to this, either find a small place in the bathroom where the cat can access, or if you have an access able place that you don't mind getting dirty or you don't mind using. For a litter box, you need a strong plastic bin that can hold alot. Also, every now and then you need to clean out the litter box and replace it with clean litter. At a local store such as Rite Aid, Target, Kmart, and Walmart, in the pet aisle they should have cat litter. I suggest Arm and Hammer brand. Next, some cats adore cat nip. Get a small container just to try it to see if your cat really likes it or not. If you do not know where to put it i suggest put it in a cats toy, when they lay on their back put it on their belly, or just sprinkle it on the floor and they will roll in it. Some cats like toys. Mine didn't. Buy 1. See how it goes. If she/he likes it, buy a few more of the same ones. Being that my cat didn't like store baught toys, I gave him straws and he liked it. Do not worry, they will not choke on it. IMPORTANT: do not give your cat ribbon or plastic super market plastic bags. Some eat them and that's how sometimes they can die by kidney failier.

Also, some cats do not like to be held so if they struggle to get out of your arms, don't hold them anymore because that is a sign where they don't like it. When you feed your cat, give them water to drink and dry food 3 times a week and wet 4 times a week. As soon as you get your cat buy a collar. Get them ingraved with Their name, your phone number, your cell, and your address. I suggest you keep your cat indoor. If you let him/her outside, he can either get lost, get ran over by a car, or drown. If you are going to adopt a cat,adopt one at the animal shelter. I hope this helps you!

Keep it in a warm surrounding and ensure it has enough water and food. Keep away for anything which could cause infection or sickness. Take to the vet for anual check-ups and always give your pet love and care. Also, dicipline is important so make sure that your pet knows who's boss and whats right from wrong. To prepare for the birth of your litter of kittens you will need a small, enclosed area like a large carrier or maybe just under a piece of furniture, this will make the mamma cat feel safe and comfortable to birth her kittens. You will also need a CLEAN rag or blanket to place under your mamma cat. You will be able to tell when the first kitten is on it's way, because the mamma cat will be switching positions and licking her woowoo. When the firrst kitten is born, make sure mamma cat breaks the birth sack, that goes for every kitten. When all of the kittens are born and nursing, just make sure the room temprature is nice and toasty for the kittens. Simply let mamma cat do the rest.
