Answer 1:

You can increase hemoglobin by eating green vegtables, fruits, red meats etc. that are rich in iron. The reason this increases hemoglobin is because the main oxygen binding component is Fe2+ which is stopped from forming into Fe3+ (rust) by the heme groups attached.

Answer 2:

Hemoglobin can always be increased by a red blood cell transfusion (in which an anticoagulant is used), but otherwise it depends on the reason for it being low. The most common cause of low hemoglobin is bleeding due to injury, heavy menstration, ulcers, etc. In this case, hypotension (low blood pressure) is likely as well as syncope (fainting). The second most likely cause is iron deficiency, and a disease related cause would be anemia.

Answer 3:

Though it is important to have high concentrations of hemoglobin's affinity to oxygen bears great importance, which pertains to it's confirmation (T-state, decreased affinity, R-state, increased affinity), pH, Temperature, as well as Gibbs free energy favorability. The affinity and the correct cooperativity are best controlled by exercising (generally aerobic), high altitudes, blood transfusion, as well as, decreased C02 or CO intake which has >200x the binding affinity of oxygen.
Constipation is the major cause for lowered levels of hemoglobin. You can avoid constipation with regular eating habits of wholesome foods, fruits and vegetables. It is recommended that you eat five times a day, three meals and two snacks, with 40 percent of calories from carbohydrates, 30 percent from protein, and 30 percent from unsaturated fats. This can include: three fourths vegetables and one part cereals. Curry leaves known as 'amla' are known to increase hemoglobin levels. Breathing exercises, with proper guidance, can also help.

Hey you need to try some supplements that can give you more iron. We have tried Vemma- it is multi vitamin nautral fruit supplement that can give you good iron and also increase your haemoglobin count. It is not a medicine, its a wellness product. You have to take it every day for atelast couple of months to see the change. Its not a medicine to do the magic overnite.

Except in the case of an underlying disease, there are several ways to increase your hemoglobin count. You can increase your count by eating foods rich in iron, folic acid, and vitamin C. You can also increase it by taking iron, and vitamins B6, B12 and C, and folic acid supplements. The herbs , nettle leaf, dong quai, and withania can also be helpful. Lastly, blood transfusion may also be necessary if low levels are due to trauma or surgery.

Other ways to increase your hemoglobin are:

1. Increased Iron Absorption:

A. Vegetables and Nuts: Apricots; asparagus; beets; blackstrap molasses; bran flakes; brazil nuts; broccoli; cashews; cooked beans, lima beans, lentils, and split peas; cooked dark green leafy vegetables such as kale, spinach, and swiss chard; dates; dried fruits; green beans; olive oil; peaches; peas; potatoes; prunes; pumpkin seeds; raw dark leafy greens; roasted almonds; sunflower seeds; Orange Juice; Prune Juice; spices such as: anise, caraway, cumin, licorice, and mint Tomato Juice; walnuts; watermelon and watermelon seeds; whole, toasted sesame seeds.B. Processed and Fortified Foods: Breads; cereals; pastas; oatmeal; soy milk; and whole-wheat flours.D. Supplements: Irons supplements with vitamin C, the vitamin C in supplement pill form, or in vitamin C rich foods like fruits and vegetables. The vitamin C aids in the proper absorption of iron.E. Other Means: Cooking in iron or stainless steal pots.

Either by eating iron rich foods, or taking an iron supplement. Good food sources of iron include red meat, shellfish, Kellogg's special K cereal, green veg, potato skins, pulses and dried fruit. However the iron from animal sources (haem iron) is more easily absorbed and utilised by the body than iron from non-aminal sources (non haem iron).

Ingesting enough iron to correct an iron deficiency can be difficult, which is why a supplement is usually used instead. However some supplements may cause nausea, stomach ache or vomiting. You need to find one that suits you. Feospan (not NHS, but available over-the counter at pharmacies if your order in advance - around £1 per box) does not have so many side effects - it's usually used in paediatrics (as it's easily absorbed), but that's not to say that adults should not use it. It has more than your RDA of iron per capsule, but that's not an issue if you're iron deficient, especially if you do not absorb iron easily. If that does not work, there is a supplement called "spatone water" - sachets of iron rich mineral water (about 5 g iron per sachet). Also easily absorbed with few side effects. But the dose is quite low, so it may not completely correct an iron deficiency.

Also, caffeine, tea, coffee, milk and eggs can inhibit iron absorption. Vitamin C aids iron absorption.

The first thing to look at is if you're actually consistently losing blood from anywhere. E.g heavy menstrual flow, passing blood in your stools or urine, stomach ulcers, or clotting disorders. (Most people will not experience any of this stuff, but it's necessary to consider since it's difficult to increase a haemoglobin level on a patient who is losing blood.) Under any of these conditions, the underlying cause of the anemia needs to be treated, rather than just the anemia itself.

If you can rule out all that stuff, it is then really worth considering what your diet is like - consuming lots of tea, coffee and dairy is known to inhibit iron absorption, meaning that even if your diet is really iron-rich, you will probably not be absorbing as much of it as possible.

Vegetarians (and vegans) are more at risk of anemia, since there is a huge amount of haeme iron (a type of iron which is easiest absorbed by the body) to be found in red meat and seafood. However, there is still lots of iron to be found in leafy green vegetables (think spinach, pak choi, kale), dried fruit, pulses, eggs, fortified cereal (in the UK, the cereal with the highest iron content per portion is Special K). Also, it is suggested that consuming iron-rich foods with lots of vitamin C aids absorption of the iron; drinking fruit juice with meals is an easy way to achieve this.

To restore your haemoglobin level to something normal quickly, it may be suggested that you take a supplement (which is usually tablet form). These are normally effective, however not everybody tolerates the supplements very well. (Main side-effects being nausea, vomiting, stomach ache etc... gastrointestinal stuff). There are various formulations of iron supplements available, and if you're having trouble achieving a normal Hb level it is well-worth trying out the different supplements until you find one which works for you. If all else fails, injectable versions are available.
