Depends what kind and how much glue. -If it's pieces that have dropped or spilt
than try slipping a sharp craft knife under the edge and flicking it off. If it comes off then wipe residue with Goof-Off.
Place a few drops of Goof Off around the base of the hot glue and rub it in with a rag, after a few minutes it should soften and start to peel off. Clean residue with Goof Off also, it will not harm a hardwood floor.
Depends on the type of glue. If it dries hard, it can probably be popped loose. If it is tacky, it depends on how old the floor is. New laminate you should be able to use a solvent to clean it. Older floors that have not been striped and varnished are coated with Shellac which dissolves with alcohol. Clean off the glue and refinish with more shellac.
Peel or lift off as much as you can with a spatula and craft knife. When only thin pieces or smears are left, rub it with a rag with a small amount of Goof Off. This will soften the glue enough so you can get an edge and peel it right off. I have tested Goof Off on 3 kinds of Hardwood flooring, and it doesn't harm or mark any of them.
This question comes up SO often I decided to experimentand put drops of 3 different super glues on a new shiny piece of hardwood flooring -(5/8 thick solid Oak with a clear, hard finish) I left 3 of the drops to set in 'lumps', and spread 3 other drops of the same glues so it was about 1 inch square and very thin. After leaving to set for 4 hours, I easily peeled off the 3 'lumps' by sliding the edge of a craft knife under them and lifting. There was no residue left by any. -The 3 spread drops were more tricky to get a blade under so I rubbed them with a rag dipped in Goof Off 1. They softened in about 2 minutes and were then easy to peel off with the knife. (hold the knife blade almost parallel to the floor)
If there are only a few spots, rub them with Goo-Gone.
You would have to tell us what kind of adhesive and if the floor is bare wood, or has a finish like varnish or oil. If the adhesive can is still around, look on it for 'clean up' directions.
