the first question one must ask himself is, does the duck have two legs? if so it will not be swimming erratically in circles, which can lead to endangerment of by swimmers in the close vicinity of the duck. in other words watch out for one legged ducks

SeriouslyThere is no immediate danger, ducks are not that aggressive and will likely leave when you enter the pool. The problem arises from feces and pathogens within it. The reality is that ducks void their bowels where they swim. There is the possibility of E. Colior Salmonella contamination that inadequate chlorination might not address. These present a larger problem for smaller children and those with compromised immune systems than for the average adult. But you have to consider: do you want to swim where some other animal has attended to business?

second opinion

If you are swimming with your ducks, you also run the risk of swimmers itch by a parasite that the ducks excrete in their feces. If the pool is strictly for the ducks, you near a biological filter to keep the water clean and moving

Ducks can have parasites that are harmful to humans. Ducks also poop and pea in water and this can cause some bad bacteria. Shoo them away.

Ducks are creatures of habit. They love an environment where they feel safe. You need to make them feel uncomfortable. Natural deterrents such as Kings Duck Solution, will teach them to stay away. They will not return as longs as they remember a previous bad experience.

Duck droppings should be treated like human droppings when it comes to pool management. Very important to remove physically from the pool what you can. Superchlorinate the water (10L - 2 gal - liquid chlorine or 1kg Calcium Hypo for average sized pool) and run filter for 24 hours. Duck droppings have E-Coli as much as any other dropping and should be treated seriously otherwise an increased health risk exists. Dry duck droppings conceal a mould that will have negative long term health affects on all those who ingest it. This applies mainly to children.

It is so important you do not put up with ducks in your pool. It will badly affect your family and friends. Products like no more ducks, kings duck solution and duck off are there to stop this issue while safely seeing the duck move on.

They most commonly live in a pond or lake. More likely a pond. But any little pool of water they will be by. For example my Aunt has a pool, and on the pool cover is water from all the rain and they'll live there.

Are ducks affected by chlorine in a swimming pool?

No, but if they swim in your pool a lot, the duck poop is going to make the water murky. Ducks and swimming pools are not a good combination. Pool sanitisers such as chlorine have no ill affect on the bird. Ducks like the pool environment as it is often a safe haven with clear water and unobtrusive surrounds. The duck droppings do have a negative effect on the pool water balance and will eventually clog the filter with the creamy white paste.
