∙ 14y agoonce a day is usually enough I always bathed my babies every day, even when newborn. Bathing them daily helps to prevent diaper rash, and by gently washing their scalp with a soft cloth while in the tub may help prevent cradle cap, which is an oily, scaly condition that is quite common in newborns. Just be sure to have the water and room at a comfortable temperature, and be very careful to rinse all the soap off. Use soaps made especially for babies to help prevent skin irritation, since regular soaps can be too harsh for a baby. Bath time can be a pleasurable time for both you and your baby, and something to look forward to as a good bonding time. It also helps some babies sleep better afterwards because it can relax them, just as it does adults. Just be sure to never leave a baby unattended in the bath, even if there is only an inch or two of water. Gather all towels, soaps, diapers, baby clothes, etc. before you begin so you won't have to leave the baby alone even for a few seconds.
