It all depends on many factors. If one is obese they can lose more weight safely than a person who is average. It is not recommended to lose more than 2 lbs a week unless you are obese. So 8lbs a month would be a good goal.

Without killing yourself with an unhealthy diet and workouts, eating well; lots of vegetables, protein and fruits and a little exercises for example 2km of walking a day, you can loose about 8pounds in a month. Worked for me, as long as you follow it up and are disciplined you can pull this one out just fine :)
