This depends on the area as well as the particular hospital or clinic. Answers from contributors for annual salaries include:

  • $500,000
  • about $150.000 if they are salaried in a hospital environment. In a private practice well over $1 million.
  • $306,000 average in 2001
  • $500,000 - 600,000
  • $1,700,000 with overhead of $400,000 in Iowa
  • $1,000,000+
  • $250,000 median in the US. Experienced $300,000
  • $242,564

I am an oral surgeon practicing in California who is 2.5 years out of residency. I will be pulling net gross income of $550,000 (which is pretty standard in California) after I make partner this year. Don't believe the bs you see out there where OMFS makes only 200,000. That include OMFS that work on salary for others (1-2 years out of residency, where they are making only 30% -35% of production), and OMFS in academics. Once you join partner in private practice (which can be done 1-2 years after residency), you can easily make $400,000 to 1 million+ per year net income working less than 40 hours a week. Non saturated areas such as in Midwest, you can easily make more than 1 million a year.
