It really depends on the state, if you live say in California you would'nt get as harsh a punishment. But I would say either a hefty fine, or at least 1-2 years. And the 1-2 years is usually if you have any priors on your record.

I am in CA and they are going after people. You may a bit less with a first offense. Make sure you don't get started on the 3 strike thing. I know they have been arresting the fellows who have the medical pot shops, so they are cracking down. Maybe you can make a deal since the state is so broke and letting people out for nonviolent arrests Why did you take the chance? I hope you don't want to be a teacher or police officer because that will show on the background check.
