If you find an independent cabbie, you can negotiate a flat rate for the fare. If you are willing to spend a little time communicating, this can be done by phone or e-mail in advance as a " time call " or scheduled pick up.Do NOT pay the whole fare in advance , get written confirmation of the agreement.
Better yet , take the airport shuttle to the Greyhound or Traiways station and take the bus to Galveston.
