The salary for a paramedic varies by where you work. Say for instance you work for a private service (i.e. AMR, Rural Metro) your likely to have fairly decent pay around $15-19/hour if you work in a large city like Houston. If you work for a fire deptartment or what's sometimes called a 3rd city service, you will make on average 36-45k/year starting out. The more experience you have the better. Where I work experienced paramedics, once they're off probation, can start out between $55-60k.

Paramedic

median: $29,271

range: $25,933 to $33,070

quite alot

In general, I think a paramedic can earn about $30,000 a year.

A paramedic in New York City can earn just over $37,000 as a base salary. The base salary does not include overtime and other benefits. Also, your base salary increases on an annual basis.

Answer

The median in the U.S. is $36,950. It can vary greatly by geographic area, civil service vs private, and years experience, but not likely to be more than $60,000/year.

I MAKE MORE THAN $65K IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA. THEY'RE MAKING MORE THAN $100K IN San Francisco.

I would say a good ballpark figure is around 40k. Of course, like most jobs, pay increases with seniority. These people save lives on a daily basis, but their salaries certainly do not reflect their crucial role in the healthcare system.
A paramedic is a health care professional who works in emergency medical situations and provides basic or advanced life support treatment in a pre hospital situation. They usually work in ambulances, emergency response vehicles or even bicycles. They provide a initial assessment, a diagnosis and a treatment plan. They are dispatched from Ambulance stations or sometimes Hospitals. They respond to any emergency medical situation that they are dispatched to and provide treatment and Transport to a hospital for further advanced care.

How skilled are Paramedics? In Canada there are 3 levels of paramedic. EMR(Emergency Medical Responder): Technically not paramedics but they are 1 below. PCP(Primary Care Paramedic): This is the mid level of paramedicine, PCPs make up the majority of paramedics in Canada. ACP(Advanced Care Paramedic): Must be a PCP for a certain amount of years. A ACP is a highly advanced paramedic Who is called in for cases to assist PCPs. Certain provinces in Canada do not have ACPs. ACPs are in some situations more "qualified" then Nurses(same with PCPs). There are 2 types of life support paramedics are trained in depending on there scope of practice. BLS(Basic Life Support) and ALS(Advanced Life Support). Paramedics usually have Life Lite helicopters that can be called in to assist if the injured is in a more isolated Situation. The Canadian Forces also have SARTechs(Search And Rescue Technicians) who are trained PCPs and save people who are isolated using a variety of techniques. When 911 is called the dispatcher will dispatch 1 Ambulance unless more are required(so if more than 1 person is injured TELL THEM). Canadian ambulance services, combat medics, and paramedics are some of the best in the world I've been told even better then Americas(sorry). In Canada there are some ambulance companies that are provincial such as BCAS(British Columbia Ambulance Service), then some are based on the city(Toronto EMS), and more rarely paramedics are also Firefighters and work at a Fire Station(more common in America). It can take anywhere from 3 years to 6 months of college and training to be qualified as a PCP. And many years of PCP experience To become a ACP and a VERY confusing course(my dad knows a ACP who can out smart doctors, he knows his stuff). Once done college training as a Paramedic they must pass a provincial test to become officially qualified. As a Paramedic training never stops, you constantly learn in the field and always advance your skills. Being a Paramedic is difficult though, my dad has said that "sooner or later you'll get tired of seeing death and Either shut off the feelings for other people or just go completely insane"(he's seen it happen). Paramedics are also paid quite good, payment can start at around 40,000 and go up as they become more experienced as high as 70,000 and higher if they decide to go ACP. Paramedics save lives on a constant basis and there contribution to society should not be forgotten. Every paramedic is a hero to me, same as every police officer and Firefighter who face danger every day. They do it for a living. And they love what they do.

Depending on what type of service you work for, public or private. Wages can widely vary.

A public service, such as New York City Fire Department will pay more, and typically have better benefits. As a rough guess, 20-30$ an hour based on experience, perhaps more.

A private service will have lower wages, and less benefits, but also has less work.

A private ambulance service in southern Illinois serving approximately 15,000 people pays 10$ an hour to Paramedics.

May not sound like much, but you make the majority of your money in overtime. Most services operate on 12 and 24 hour shifts. 3-4 days a week. With this rotation, you make on average 50,000 a year up to 100,000. well they get paid about 24-28 dollars per hour A paramedic will make between 12.00-20.00 an hour, depending on the area you work and your experience.

Depends on where geographically you are located. As well as your education and qualifications, etc...

But in the US you're looking at a yearly annual salary of $40 000 grand.

Oh and experience is also another factor but the salary above is quite average for the states.

Note: This is for Paramedics NOT EMTS!

In the United States, Paramedic salary wages are really low. Your looking at $40 000 to only a max of just under $50 000...

I really don't understand why the pay is so low... And btw that is the pay for major cities. It's much lower in more rural parts so around $35 000 a year :(
