According to the CIA World Factbook, Russia's oil exports were estimated to be around 7.301 million barrels per day. This is second only to Saudi Arabia in amount of oil exported daily. However the U.S. Energy Information Administration estimates the total crude oil production of Russia was at 9,356.78 barrels per day, making it the world's largest crude oil producer. The oil is exported to a number of countries, many of them existing within the European Union, which imports around 30% of its oil from Russia. Pipelines originating in Russia also travel through much of formerly Soviet states in Central Eurasia. China has also begun to import crude oil from Russia as their own energy resources are not enough to match current industrial growth. Other Asian states, such as Japan, also import oil from Russia. Other smaller importers of Russian oil include the United States and India.
