As of 2013, a rate of 12.2 children per 1,000 were victims of abuse/neglect in Oklahoma, a 16.8% increase from 2012. In the early 2000s, Oklahoma was reported to be in the top 5 states for worse child abuse rates. However, they are reportedly doing better more recently. In 2012, Oklahoma ranked 31 in a "best to worst places for children to live" ranking of the states. Currently, it is considered in the top 10 best states for low child abuse/neglect rates. So I would say a few years ago, Oklahoma had much more child abuse (at least statistic-wise) than it does today.
