Unique thing about the Armenian genocide is?

It was the first genocide of the 20th century, and what the Turks did served as an example to many other criminals. To encourage his accomplices, Hitler once said "after all, who still remembers the Armenian genocide?".

Who was responsible for the Armenian genocide and WHY did they do it?

Genocide is defined as "the deliberate and systematic extermination of a national, racial, political, or cultural group." The Ottoman Government was responsible for the Armenian Genocide. To be specific Envar, Jemal, and Talat-pasha were the main people who organized the genocide. The killings were an attempt to wipe out the Armenians and rid them from Turkey. The reason you hear many people complaining/talking about the Armenian Genocide, and not the Holocaust, is because the Turkish government has not accepted the Armenian Genocide. They say it was a civil war, not a genocide, and they teach that to the children in the schools.

What ended Armenian GEnocide?

The Armenian Genocide ended when the Armenian community on the Eastern part of the land beat the Turkish in the battle of Sardarabad, consequently ended their killing rampage on Armenian soil. Most of the Armenians in western cities were killed in a systematic killing by ethnicity and many cities captured by the Turks. However the Armenian Genocide has not truly ended because the Turks still deny that this great atrocity happened and the last stage of genocide is denial. Also Armenians in Turkey are still being killed for speaking their mind about the events of 1915. Recently an Armenian journalist Hrant Dink was killed for reporting about the Armenian Genocide. ----- 'Armenian Genocide' ended because what was intented as 'genocide' was done. What was intended was to isolate Turkish and Armenian populations which were nearly between a civil war. As Armenians were only %20 of these provinces in East they were deported to Russia and todays Syria. In 1922 Turkish Nationalist Army won against Democratic Republic of Armenia thus a peace treatry is signed.

Does Turkey admit to the Armenian genocide?

No. Turkey has passed legislation banning any open discussion of the Armenian Genocide (part of Article 301) and uses its important diplomatic and economic position to prevent other countries from recognizing the Armenian Genocide. This has resulted in many Turkish diplomatic problems, like EU entry, which is conditioned on Turkey's acceptance of the Armenian Genocide. Failure to recognize the genocide has made it difficult to establish diplomatic relations between Turkey and the modern Republic of Armenia. Please see Editorial: Turkey Must Recognize the Armenian Genocide from 2004 to read more.

Who stopped the Armenian genocide and what happened?

Why did the world ignore the Armenian genocide?

not all of the world ignored the Armenian genocide, infact there are many countries who believe the Armenian genocide happened (which is great) only some of the major countries (like U.S.A) stilll don't believe that the genocide happened, because Turkey is one of the major countries of the world and America is friends with them, so i guess that's why they ignored the Armenian genocide, plus, people are saying " It happened already! Why do we have to care about something that happened in 1915?!" Well, I'll tell you why, this genocide led to many genocides that were influenced by the Ottoman Empire, Like the Jewish Genocide, and Darfur, And Rwanda. It's all about power, and Turkey is powerful.

Were the Kurds brought to justice for their role in the Armenian Genocide?

There have never been any international criminal trials or civil trials concerning the Armenian Genocide since Turkey has effectively prevented many major countries from recognizing the genocide. So, no conspirator in the genocide, of which a large minority were Kurds, has ever been brought to justice. However, unlike the Turks, several Kurds have apologized and sought forgiveness for the crimes of the Armenian Genocide or have been active in promoting the recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
