Good question. The regular scripture search tool on the LDS website doesn't work for that one because "and" isn't a significant word... so it ignores it. The best I can do for you is estimate... so, I counted the number of instances of the word "and" on several random pages in the Book of Mormon that I keep here on my desk, and came up with an average of 10 "and"s per page. There are 531 pages in this edition/size, so that would mean there are approximately 5310 instances of the word "and" in the book. Of course, my sample size might be off, and I know that there are a lot of "and"s in some chapters... more than I found in my random samples. I am not sure what the variance is, but that's the best answer I can offer. :)

Prayer is mentioned at other times without using the word prayer. Other phrases used when mentioning prayer are 'call upon God', 'ask God', 'inquire of the Lord', 'cry unto the Lord', 'supplication to God', etc.

This is an interesting question, because believers in the Book of Mormon believe that the entire book is scripture - the word of God - however most of the book is more of a historical record of the people written by religious and political leaders than a direct message from deity. There are also a few recorded sermons from religious leaders, and times when it is actually God or Jesus speaking directly. There are also instances when the writer is speaking with the "Spirit of the Lord" or a messenger from heaven - these could be God, but perhaps are not. So what counts as "God speaking"? Is it all the time, since the whole thing is the word of God? Is it when God speaks through the sermon of a prophet or religious leader? How about when a prophet has a vision or dream that is only visual and contains no dialogue? Or is it only when God is speaking directly? As you can see, there isn't an easy answer to this question.

Here are some examples that may or may not be considered God speaking:

-Lehi is shown a vision in which he sees God and an angel shows him a book from which he reads a message from God regarding the destruction of Jerusalem.

-The Lord speaks to Lehi in a dream instructing him to depart into the wilderness.

-Nephi has a vision in which the "Spirit of the Lord" speaks to him.

-Nephi prophesies saying "Thus saith the Lord God..."

-Jacob recounts something that God said to him previously.

-King Benjamin tells his people that his sermon is what the Lord commanded him to say.

-Alma "delivers the word of God" in a sermon.

-"The voice of the Lord" tells Ammon where and what to preach.

-The Lord speaks to Samuel by "putting words in his heart"

-Jesus appears to the Nephites after his resurrection and ascension and speaks to them face to face.

-The Lord speaks when the Brother of Jared sees His finger.

How many verses in the Book of Mormon talk of Jesus Christ?

"Jesus Christ" is mentioned 64 times "Jesus" (not followed by "Christ") is mentioned 116 times "Christ" (without "Jesus") is mentioned 302 times Please note that Jesus Christ is mentioned hundreds if not thousands of times in the Book of Mormon by other names, such as "Messiah", "Son of God", "Redeemer", "Lord", "Lamb of God" and "Jehovah". I didn't count any of those. In a broader sense, every verse in the Book of Mormon is about Jesus Christ, since the entire book is meant to be "Another Witness of Jesus Christ". The Book of Mormon is a testimony of the faithfulness of God and the divinity and necessity of Jesus Christ as our Savior.
