∙ 12y agomost have 6 others have 12 then you have the metal guitars that have 6 or 7 and sometimes even 8 but there is one called the perfect 10 bich by B.C. Rich and it has 10 strings. double necks will have 12 on the top and 6 on the bottom and triple necks like the one that Steve vai uses has 12 on the top 6 in the middle and 6 on the bottom(bottom is fretless)
