There is Mt. Fuji in Japan (last eruption in 1707)

Many people died, but because of starvation. There was absolutely no lava, and everything was just because of the air, steam, that came out. There were even many many houses and monuments that were destroyed. The eruption ended on Feb, 24, 1708.

Mauna Loa has been erupting for thousands of years, and there are no statistics for its impact on early Hawaiians. Recent eruptions have not caused loss of life but two eruptions that occurred in the first half of the 10th century buried several villages and are believed to have killed over 100 people.
