It is estimated that, as a result of the Boxing Day tsunami in 2004, up to 275,000 people were killed, with at least 128,000 of them in Indonesia alone. Over one million were left homeless. There are no exact figures for this disaster.
In Thailand, 26th December 2004there was a huge tsunami. It was the biggest tsunami the world had seen in about 40 years. The wave was over 100 feet high. This tsunami killed over 225,000 and left thousands more injured and homeless.
There are reports from 7,400 - 125,000 buildings and homes damaged or destroyed depending on which news source you look at. Another answer reported that 350,000 people were left homeless.
