This question illustrates why the standard units of measure are silly. This problem would be much easier if you had metric measures. It would be so much easier that I am tempted to convert to metric units, solve the problem, then convert back.

However, I assume that you wanted to see the calculations done in the units you gave so here is my answer.

Assumptions: by 12 foot round, I assume you mean that the diameter is 12 feet.

Volume = area of base * height

Volume = Pi * radius * radius * height

Volume = 3.14 * 6 * 6 * 3 ft 3

Volume = 339 ft3

Now you need to know how many cubic feet are in a gallon. I don't know this and probably nobody else in the state of AK knows this, but you can look it up.

1 gallon = 0.1337 ft3

Number of gallons = Number of cubic feet / number of cubic feet per gallon

Number of gallons = 2,536 gallons.

A round pool 12ft is Pi x Rsquared x depth x 7.480519483.1415926 x 36 x 2.5 x 7.48 = is pretty close but the bottom is not flat so subtract the ramps. Ramps are approximately .5 x diam or subtract 50 gallons.
