How many current robberies in the Dominican Republic?

There are many. I've lived here all my life, and I have not been robbed once. If your are going to come as a tourist don't worry, the president is making sure tourist areas are safe! They are training officers to be able to speak English so that they can give directions etc. the Dominican Republic is one of the safest places to go if you are a tourist, or well at least that is what I heard on T.V. the other day. But please don't go round with iPods and other expensive items, that is a big temptation for some people. And also there is a possibility that you might see a lot of armed officers, don't be scared they are friendly, they are just trying to scare off some robbers that might be attracted to the area.
