The Bahá'í Faith is today [2009] among the fastest-growing of the world's religions. With more than seven million followers* who reside in virtually every nation, island and territory on earth. It is the second-most widespread faith, surpassing every religion except Christianity in its geographic reach. Bahá'ís reside in more than 100,000 localities around the world, an expansion that reflects their dedication to the ideal of world citizenship. Its Sacred Texts have been transcribed in more than 700 languages/dialects. *The Baha'i Faith does not automatically count children of a Baha'i household among its adherents, as is the practice of most religions. A youth must be 15 or older and declare of his/her own volition a personal belief in the Faith in order to be added to the rolls. If otherwise, the 7+ million would easily be tripled to more than 21 million Baha'is worldwide.

1) 5-6 million people and geographically, it is the second most wide spread faith after Christianity.

2) The five million-plus figure has been around a few decades. The 1998 Encyclopedia Britannica cited adherents of the Baha'i Faith to be in the vicinity of 7.67 million. Given 11 years have passed since that printing, it should probably be assumed the number is now even higher. The Baha'i Faith still remains second only to Christianity in its global scope.
