Only 1 version.

إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا الذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُونَ

"Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur'an and indeed, We will be its guardian." -Quran 15:9
The Qur'an is present in a living language, Arabic. Over 200 million speak the Arabic language however, only 19% of the Arab world is literate. It is therefore very easy to check the contents of the original Arabic of the Qur'an. The Bible was written in ancient Hebrew, Aramaic, and Koine Greek. These are all dead languages, meaning their meaning of the text doesn't change over time- eternally preserving the original meaning.

The Qur'an has always been in the possession of the people, as there is no clergy in Islam. T

There are thousands of variants between different versions of the Qur'an, however, after the Uthmanic rescension (when the early Muslims formulated their edition of the Qur'an based on personal preference) the amount of variatns declined greatly as other Qur'ans were burnt. However, today, Muslims deny this and provide minimal footnotes in the 1923 Cairo Egyptian of the Qur'an in print today.

The preservation of the scripture of Islam -- the Holy Qur'an -- is unique among world religions. Unlike the Bible which has over 25000 manuscripts of the New Testament alone the Qur'an has few manuscripts - and no early Qur'an is dated before 160 years after the death of Muhammad. THerefore, we cannot confirm when the Qur'an was written nor do we know how poorly it reflects the words of God.

According to Sunni traditions, the earliest that the Qur'an was compiled together was 23 years after the death of the prophet. However, academics find no evidence of a Qur'an unil 160 years after the supposed death of Muhammad.

The Qur'an is a miraculous and revealed text, and that similar texts cannot be written by humans. Its miraculous nature is claimed to be evidenced primarily by its literary style. The Qur'an itself challenges any who disagree with its claimed divine origin to produce a text of the same nature.

Without adding or removing anything to/from the text of the above answer, i want to note that it is an extremely biased answer whose authors and contributors should at best, feel ashamed. They were too careless to even think about the factual accuracy of the allegations made.

As at 2009, the country with the lowest literacy levels in the world was Burkina Faso with 23.8% literacy, meaning there is no country in the world with 19% literacy. Where is the Arab world with 19% literacy that you are talking about??

I should inform you that the Quran is the ONLY book in the world (of its volume) which is memorised from cover to cover and recited by Muslims in their millions off-head. We therefore do not need to have it in writting to preserve it. The argument that knowledge has to be on paper for it to be preserved is a privilege of the most inferior minds and i urge you to desist from it.

I conclude by stating that the Quran, as revealed 1400 years ago is still the SAME Quran in print and as memorised by the Haafithu without a single alteration. I challenge anyone to state here any two versions of the Quran that they know of.

114 suras a quran.

Suras are similar to chapters but they are of unequal lengths. The shortest is the Al-Kawther with only three ayat or verses and the longest is Al-Bakara with 286 ayat.

Of the 114 suras in the quran 86 are classed as Meccan and deal with faith and scenes of the Hereafter. The other 28 are Medinan and deal with organisation of social life of the Muslim community.

The number of Ayats is 6236 ayats (verses) in the Quran (including Bismillah of only the first surah (first chapter) and Bismillah is not included for other surahs (chapters).

Otherwise, if including Bismillah of the other surahs (or chapters), number of ayats (or verses) will be 112 + 6236 = 6348.
