i did a bit of studying and discovered the answer is No evewry president we have ever had is christian

-- In truth, Thomas Jefferson was not a Christian; he was a deist. Jefferson writes, in a letter penned to Benjamin Rush, that he was "a Christian" only in the fact that he respected the moral teachings of Jesus. He most certainly did not -- like most of the other founding fathers influenced by the Enlightenment philosophy around them -- believe in the divinity of Jesus Christ nor any of the supernatural aspects of the Christian Bible. Most would agree that to not believe in a good majority of The Bible (virgin birth; death and resurrection; etc) and to not believe that Jesus was the son of God, merely a good moral teacher, does not a Christian make.

Abraham Lincoln was also not a Christian, and neither was George Washington. So there is nothing that says the President must be Christian to be great.

At this point in our history, all of our presidents have been some denomination of Christian-- most have been Protestant, and at least one has been Catholic. We have not yet had a president who is Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim, or some other faith. Also, while many presidents were born into a Christian family, that does not mean they were all religious-- some were much very devoted to their faith, while others barely went to church and seemed indifferent (or even skeptical) about organized religion.

John Adams. Thomas Jefferson and John Quincy Adams did not profess a belief in the divinity of Christ, but promoted Christian principles . Other Presidents were vague about their exact theological beliefs but all attended Christian church services on occasion and none professed any beliefs that were opposed to Christianity. The great majority were baptized as Christians before they died.

No US president even professed to being a non-Christian. Three or four doubted the divinity of Jesus and some were not active in any church but all expressed a high regard for Christian principles and attended Christian churches on occasion. None of them practiced any other religion.

Pretty much all US Presidents have been at least nominally Christian, so it will be easier to list the single (so far) exception:

Abraham Lincoln was fond of quoting from the Bible, but was not a member of any specific church, and appears to have been a Deist or atheist rather than a Christian.

We have never had a president who was opposed to Christianity . Not all were church members and some of them never wrote or talked about their theological beliefs. All expressed a belief in God.

Was President Obama ever a Muslim?

No, this is a common internet myth, but there is no evidence to support it. He has a Muslim name that he was given by his biological father, but his father was not a practicing Muslim by the time Barack was born, and he was never raised in the Muslim faith. He was raised by a non-practicing Christian mom, and later by his Protestant Christian maternal grandparents.

Were Obama's parents married in a Muslim ceremony?

No, this is a myth. The president's father had long ago stopped practicing Islam, and the president's mother was a non-practicing Christian. They were married in a small ceremony, and it seems to have been very non-religious.
