6 inches = 6/12 ft = 0.5ft

1.67X0.5 ft = 0.83 sq ft.

Therefore 900sq ft / 0.83 sq ft = 1080 tiles

However the above answer is how much is needed without waste. I.e. no partial tiles for the perimeter.
