Foods that are left out in room temperature for more than an hour can begin bacteria growth. Our stomach acids can kill some of these bacterias but not all and some can make you very sick. Keep foods OUT of the danger zone- Above 45 degrees and Below 145 degrees. Between these temperatures bacteria lives and breeds on our foods.

This depends on a number of factors such as how hot is the location where you are keeping the tomatoes, how ripe are they when you brought them home, are they being kept in a box or laid in one level in a box or something similar. Green tomatoes will stay fresh for up to a week, unripe red tomatoes may be good for 3-5 days, ripe tomatoes may spoil within 1-3 days. Tomatoes should not be refrigerated if you are particular about the flavor as they lose flavor when refrigerated.

Does planting marigolds next to tomatoes help in keeping squirrels off?

No, marigolds don't help keep squirrels from eating your tomatoes. The first tomatoes to be eaten by the squirrels were in patio pots and surrounded by marigolds almost half as tall as the tomatoes. One tomato is now completely bare of tomatoes, it had 5 or 6 before the squirrels found it. The other still has 5 but by tomorrow probably will have only one or two left - if any.

Can you still refrigerate and use margarine if it's been left out of the fridge overnight?

YES. When keeping it, just be sure that it is not contaminated by any substances to avoid food poisoning.
