If meat has been protected from freezer burn, roast and steaks stay good 8 to 12 months. Ground meat only stays good for 2 to 3 months.

Vacuum sealing tends to hold food better in the frozen state because it prevents freezer burn. It will not prevent rancidity and other flavor changes.
