generally you should cook meats to a temperature and not for any specific length of time. all pork products should be cooked to around 160 degrees Fahrenheit and then allowed to rest for 2-3 minutes.

Why are your pork chops tough?

Pork chops become tough by OVERCOOKING. It is important to cook pork to temp. so any harmful bacteria will be cooked out. Pork chops do not take very long if they are med. / thin, bone in. I enjoy my chops a bit pink in the center to ensure they are not tough. I think I'm one of a few who actually orders their pork med. rare.

Where does pork cutlets originate from?

A pig. Really, the pork cutlet is a thin, tender cut of pork often taken from the sirloin end of the loin after the tenderloin and bones have been removed. Occasionally cutlets also may come from the leg and pounded thin to tenderize.

What is a good recipe for pork sandwich that doesn't have barbeque sauce?

My favorite pork sandwich recipe is the old-fashioned midwestern pork tenderloin. Take a pork loin slice, pound thin, dip in egg & cracker crumbs, then fry in oil or butter. Serve on a bun with a bit of mustard and you've got a perfect summer main dish.

How long do you cook pork chops with bone?

Depends on how thick they are. If they are 3/4 of inch and you are frying in oil at 350 to 375 degrees, about 15 minutes TOTAL. Six or seven minutes on the first side, eight on the second. You'll get much better results if you pan grille, at medium high heat using grapeseed oil and seasoning well. Just a thin layer, enough to keep it from sticking. Heat the pan first, then put in the oil, swirl the pan to spread the oil, and grille, six to seven minutes on the first side, eight on the second, don't let the oil smoke (too hot - need to start over). Anything over 3/4 of an inch generally won't pan fry well. Thin chops will need less time, really thin chops (sometimes called breakfast cut) can be done in as little as six minutes on medium high, 3 and 3. In the United States you no longer have to cook pork to well done, and can cook to medium or medium well if you'd like.

Is Canadian Bacon really Canadian?

Not anymore, but peameal bacon was distinctively a Canadian product years ago. Real Canadian Peameal bacon is cut from the boneless loin of pork, fat is trimmed to 1/8 inch and sweet pickle cured the product was rolled in crushed/ground yellow peas to preserve freshness. No smoke used. Canadian bacon sold in the USA on the other hand is plain old lean back bacon sometimes with a coating of cornmeal. Normal bacon is cut from the belly of the hog, smoked and thin sliced.
