My Mom used to always boil her ham. It is Mother's day today and I was just looking up how long to boil my 9lb one. What I found was that for every 10lbs it takes 4hrs of gentle boiling. It also suggests to skim the water off frequently and to cover the pot and that the liquid should be 3 inches over the ham. Once done boiling, it suggests to put it in the oven, I'm guessing @ 350 and bake for 1/2 hr. Last time I boiled a ham for a Super Bowl party, I used a 1/2 part of coke or pepsi and 1/2 part water. It gave a little sweeter taste. I then made a glaze of mustard and brown sugar and brushed it over the ham and baked it for 1/2hr. All the guys wanted to know who made the ham. Hope this helps you out!!! Oh, I did the math for you and your 8lb ham would take 3hr and 12min to boil.
Boiling the ham will mean that it has already been cooked, therefore we don't need to worry about under-cooking at this point. Normally, you would bake a ham between 20 - 40 minutes, depending on the glaze you have added, and how deep a colour you would like.

How Long to Boil Chicken Tenderloins
you boil it in water
Start by placing your ham in a crock pot. Add cold water and cover the pot. Turn the crock pot to high heat and bring to a boil.Turn down to medium heat and let the ham boil a few minutes, then drain water, and refill with water 2" above ham. Bring to a boil again over high heat. This method is used to make the ham less salty. Add peeled onions and cook ham for a half hour per pound. Add more water when it starts getting low. Peel and cut potatoes and carrots. Wash and core cabbage and cut into wedge like pieces. Add your vegetables at the last 40 minutes of cook time. They will boil in the pot with your ham. Serve together. Voila. Boiled dinner with your ham.
That depends on how you are cooking it (roast or boil) and how much it weighs. In general Cook for 30 mins per 450g/1lb.
