How is the bass clarinet related to the normal clarinet in size and pitch?

The Bb bass clarinet sounds an octave lower than the Bb soprano clarinet and so is approximately double the length (following the curves of the neck and bell). Many bass clarinets have additional notes at the bottom of the instrument - some extending to a low C, compared to the the soprano's low Eb. Basses with extended range will be a bit longer - more than double the length of the soprano.

How does the length of a clarinet affect the pitch?

The longer the clarinet the lower the pitch or sound it makes. The shorter the clarinet the higher pitch it makes. The most common clarinet is a Bb (B flat) Clarinet or a bass clarinet which is longer and lower. Another common clarinet is an Eb (E flat) clarinet which makes a higher pitch or sound. As far as i know, they all have the same fingerings. The only difference is your embouchure (how you position your mouth) and the sound/pitch it produces.

Which is highest clarinet or saxaphone?

The Bb clarinet is higher than alto, tenor and baritone saxophones. But it is lower than the soprano sax.

What are facts about on the clarinet?

Is the Alto Clarinet smaller than the Bb Bass Clarinet?

Yes, the alto is smaller. They both have crooks in the neck just below the mouth piece somewhat like a sax. The Bb is heavy and quite a bit longer than an alto and rests on the ground between your feet during concert performances with the help of a stem stand. The alto is played along side the right leg.Since bass instruments are generally bigger than the original instruments, I would say yes. The bass clarinet is tall and big, and sort of shaped like a saxophone. The alto clarinet is the same thing, but smaller. And the regular Bb soprano clarinet is straight and usually plastic. They all use reeds (bigger the instrument, bigger the reed). There is plenty of information.

What does Bb mean in flute notes?

What a Instrument family is the clarinet from?

There is no horn in the clarinet family. The term horn usually refers to the brass instrument called the french horn, although some people call their saxophones, trumpets and trombones horns, for example; "I need to grab my "horn" on the way to the gig."The soprano clarinet is a woodwind instrument in the key of Bb. there is also an Alto clarinet in Eb and a Bass clarinet in Bb. Lets not forget the tiny Eb clarinet, and the big contra bass clarinet to round out the family.I hope I helped you shed the light on your confounding question.Thank you.Edit: The Basset horn is a member of the clarinet family.
