It can take a while to train a puppy. No matter what kind of dog. We have trained 4 dogs and our friend trains so many dogs about 20 and it took her and us as well about 18 months for them to be fully trained and with a lot of effort every single day!! It can take a while. Sorry! Good luck!!

The puppy training phase of guide Dog Training typically lasts about a year, from age 8 weeks to 14 months. Then the pup is returned to the guide dog school for advanced training, usually an additional 6 months or so.

An assistance dog is a dog individually trained to perform tasks to help a person with a disability do things they cannot do for themselves. It typically takes 18 to 24 months to train a full service assistance dog. Those trained only to work at home, such as some hearing dogs, can be trained in as little as six months. A lot of the training time for dogs intended for public access is done in socialization, habituation, generalization and proofing against distraction. Dogs that work at home only have less need for this training because they encounter fewer people, fewer locations, and fewer distractions. Dogs that work in public access must be trained to ignore distractions like squirrels, balls, running children, food on the ground, and people calling to them, to name just a few.

It typically takes 18 to 24 months to fully train a public access service animal. However, something like a hearing dog that is used only in the home might be trained in as little as 6 months.

Most of the time 2 to 3 years.
Pups in the Seeing Eye program are typically 7-8 weeks old when they are sent to live with 4-H families to receive socialization and training in manners and basic obedience. They are typically 14 to 18 months old when they are returned to the Seeing Eye for advanced training.

The Seeing Eye is just one of many programs that train dogs to guide the blind. Individual programs may do their puppy raising differently.

The Seeing Eye is the oldest and most recognized guide dog training program in the world.
According to professional guide dog programs such as The Seeing Eye or Guide Dogs for the Blind, it takes 2 years from start to finish to train a guide dog. It is not safe for a dog to do guide work till after their growth plates have closed which usually happens around the age of 2.

== == Puppy raisers generally receive their wards at about 8 weeks of age and return them to the guide dog center at around 14 months for formal training.

Typically the actual working part of a dogs training takes between 3 and 9 months - after the puppy stage and "being a good pet" training is finished. This is why many organizations use volunteer puppy raisers - it helps get their dogs through the basics with very little expense (most training organizations run on donations alone). Other groups scour rescues and adopt adult dogs who have already gone through the puppy stage... and yet others place their dogs in their future homes as puppies to help the bonding process along. A "Seeing Eye Dog" refers to dogs from The Seeing Eye - one specific training program. You can find out more information about them and their specific program at http://www.seeingeye.org/ According to their FAQ it takes exactly 22 months and 27 days to train one of their graduates. Training starts with the puppy raiser, and keeps on going even after being placed with the blind person. Both of my wifes Guides were 2 years old when she got them.
it depends on the dog, the breed, and the school
18-36 months depending on the program and dogs learning.

Seeing Eye dogs(tm) from NJ says exactly 29 months and 27 days.
The time taken to train a guide dog will vary on the dog and the exact purpose of it's training. It will take at least 3 to 9 months but some guide dogs take 22 months to train.
It depends if the dog/puppy listens. If it is a more active dog that does not usually listen to you one way or the other it will take longer. If the puppy is naturally obedient then it wouldn't take that log because it actually listens to you. But most of the times the occasion is that it will take longer.
It really depends if the dog does well in training sessions. The anwcer reported the most is 1-1-1/2 years

It depends on the dogs function.

ESA's (Emotional Support Animal, a trained or untrained PET for a disabled person)

and Therapy Dogs (visits hospitals) get 3 months training. They are NOT ADA PROTECTED!

Hearing Dogs get 6-18 months depending on the number of sounds and if they go in public.

Guide Dogs get about 2 years.

All other service dogs depend on the number of commands and how well the dog learns them.

So 3-36 months of training.

Depending on several factors, the time to train a service dog varies widely. These factors include: what service the dog needs to provide, the temperament of the dog, the dog's aptitude for learning. First the dog must have a base of obedience training which could take, depending on the dog, a average of 6-10 weeks. Then each behavior the dog needs to perform in service needs to be refined. The dog mus be able to perform its duties flawlessly before it can be utilized. Certain breeds are better genetically suited to be service animals. Some of the most commonly used breeds are Labs, Golden Retrievers, German Shepherd Dogs but not all dogs in those breeds can provide service. The longest part of training for service dogs is learning the particular behaviors the dog needs to use.
