i had poison ivy a month ago.
i received the steroid shot also.
after i had the shot it took two weeks to go away.
Tips:
wash EVERYTHING!
then take alcohol on a rag and pat on your body leave it!
spots already there use different cotton balls on each area to bleach them then wash it off with tecnu!
do not scratch it no matter how bad it itches bleach or alcohol it!
let it dry out and run its course.
medicines: any histamines to dry it out( i use benadryl! i take it ever 4-5 hours it helps!

∙ 10y agoMy husband has taken oral prednisone for poison ivy both this spring and last. His dosage was 60mg (2 pills with breakfast, lunch, and dinner) for 4 days. Then 40mg for 4 days, then 20mg for 4 days. According to him, the itching is hardly noticeable by the end of day 2. In the meantime, use hydrocortisone ointment 1% everywhere it itches, except on your face then use the 0.5%. It should help at least a little bit, but if it doesn't, try to remember that the itching will go away as the prednisone starts working. You could also try drying the poison ivy areas out by taking hot showers or soaking in a salt bath. My dad always went swimming in the ocean when he had poison ivy. He said once you get past the sting of the salt, the itching calms down. Best of luck to you!
