A smooth transfer would result in two additional years. However, it is always up to the receiving institution as to how many credits they will transfer. It also depends on the specific program of study. In other words and as an example, a management degree particular to information systems could be much different in terms of appropriate prerequisite coursework when attempting to transfer into computer science engineering. Still, if this is where our passion lies, contact a few colleges or universities that meet your needs and inquire about their transfer policies, and how your associate fits into it.

If the associate's degree is a transfer program within the same major as the four year institution you are transferring to, it would take approximately two additional years to complete the bachelor's degree.

The associates degree generally covers the first 2 years of your Bachelor's degree.

You could probably earn a Bachelor's degree in 1 year depending on the courses you took to get your AA degree and how many of the classes and credits carry over.

But, it will in most cases take from 1-2 years to get your bachelor's degree, of course it can take longer if you change a major, or have a large number of courses and credits that do not transfer to the 4 year school you are attending.
