Can a Canadian citizen move to America?

"yes, but only if you have a parent that was born in America and one born in Canada" This is not precisely, or necessarily true. It is possible for a Canadian to become a dual citizen if neither parent was born in the United States, but it depends on when they were born and where their parents were born. Canadians, since 1947, can hold multiple citizenships. It is a complex question. You are best advised to contact a United States embassy or consulate near you for more information. They will likely send you questionnaire to help you determine your status. In general though, it is not possible for a foreign government to force you to renounce your citizenship, even as a condition of citizenship in that country. So as long as you meet the requirements to become a citizen of the United States, it doesn't matter if you are also a Canadian citizen.

If you get married in Canada is it legal in the US?

Answer I can't be too sure on how legal it is as you are Canadian and you married out of the country. I'd contact Immigration Canada to find out how legal your marrige is. * You can be married outside of Canada and be legally recognized as married in Canada. You simply need to show the marriage certificate. The marriage certificate is less important than it used to be for legal reasons, however. What is more important is the duration that a couple cohabitates (lives together).

How long does it take to get your US citizenship if i am applying from a US citizen?

Depending on the number of U.S. Citizenship applications the USCIS offices receive in each state the length of time for the entire process changes. In a few U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS, formerly known as the INS) district offices, the swearing-in ceremony for receiving the naturalization certificate will then take place from 1 to 180 days after the interview, although in some it can take another one or two years.

How do you get citizenship in Canada if you are a American?

Be sure you have looked into the American Government system before you make any long term plans. It is falling apart. Also the health care system here is pathetic. How can I become a Canadian citizen? * haha the previous poster is right .. America isn't what it used to be (thanks to our current "leaders"). That said, it is very difficult to become an American citizen. Unless you have immediate family who are American citizens, or are a highly skilled/college educated person, it can be next to and including, impossible. Good luck! * No editorializing on this one. Just as any other immigrant to the United States, a Canadian can take out American citizenship after living in the U.S. without a criminal record for five years and passing a test in American civics and history. Recently Pam Anderson did, so the U.S. is not really all that picky. (Oops, I forgot about the no editorializing!) Also, as a Canadian, I'd like to say that you are welcome to move into my basement. We'll see what happens in November, but 4 more years of a Republican executive might mean that I need to buy a bigger house ;-)

Where can Canadians travel without a passport?

As of Jun.01.2009, there are no countries you can go without a passport as a Canadian citizen. Canadian Citizens can go to the Dominican Republic without a passport as long as they have their birth certificate or proof of Canadian citizenship along with a valid photo I.D. and also as long as they are not to transit the U.S.
