I have a Rouen and she has been laying eggs since she turned about 9 months old. She has layed 60+ eggs at a regular rate of one a day. She gathers them all in the nest but does not sit on them. Anyone ever heard of this before?
Depends on the species. Some can hatch in as little as three weeks, others may take another couple of weeks. Mallards usually hatch between 26 - 30 days. Weather can be a factor, too. They leave the nest as soon as all the eggs in the group are hatched.
Study was carried out for establishing the optimal sex ratio in Muscovy duck breeding. Four variants of the ratio of the male to the female individuals were tested: 1:5(I), 1:6(II), 1:7(III) and 1:8(IV). In the frames of each sex ratio
(variant), two subgroups (sub-variants) were formed with the aim of establishing the effect of the hierarchy relations among the drakes on egg fertility: with one male in a group (A) and with more than one male in a group (B).The highest egg fertility - 97.09 % was achieved at 1:5 sex ratio (with more than one drake in age group) and the lowest- 93.41 % at 1:8 sex ratio (with a single male in a group).
Signifi cant decrease in egg fertility was registered when increasing the sex ratio to 1:8, that effect being displayed more weakly at more than one male in the group. When increasing the ratio, the presence of more than one drake in
the family group exerted a positive infl uence on egg fertility, due to the preference of the males to certain females and the distribution of the rest of the females among the drakes placed in the hierarchy below the "alpha", depending on
their grade in the hierarchy order.
The most appropriate sex ratio for Muscovy duck species was 1:5, and, when there was shortage of the male reproduction material, 1:6 ratio was also acceptable, especially if more than one drakes were placed in the family.
Once a duck starts laying, they will usually lay an egg a day, most often in the early morning. Many ducks dont make nests and will lay directly on the ground. It doesnt matter what time the duck has sex with the drake, she will lay her egg at around the same time each day regardless.
18 days. slight changes(+-2 days) may be found due to change in weather, change of nest etc...
18+- days
six months
the ducks hatch in the spring normaly in the 2nd week
usually under bushes

It depends what animal it is.
Female ducks can still lay eggs without a male duck, the eggs just won't be fertilized, which means...no baby ducks.
Ducks lay their eggs on a nest, whether it be in a tree or out on the open ground.
Most ducks will lay eggs without mating, like chickens do, but the egg will not contain an embryo, and will not hatch without the male.
The only thing that ducks can lay are other ducks
ducks are not mamals beacause they lay eggs
Ducks are oviparous as they lay eggs.
yes they do :)
their wings dont have much to do with laying eggs. but only chickens lay eggs without mating
Shortly after the mating season, most insects lay their eggs.
cayuga ducks lay approximately 100-150 eggs per year if properly cared for.
Yes they do.
After mating.
