A magnet will attract magnetic items, but not non-magnetig items.
If you were to mix a bucket of peas with a bucket of steel bearing balls, pouring them past a strong magnet would make the steel parts stick to the magnet while the peas would continue.
Magnetic separation is used in many fields and industries. The main use in manufacturing is using the magnetic properties of a substance to separate magnetic materials from nonmagnetic materials or materials with strong magnetic fields from materials with low magnetic fields. This is useful for separating crushed ore at various stages of the mining, iron production, mineral processing and Metallurgy industries; the process is also used to remove materials with magnetic properties in the processing of food.
Another field where magnetic separation is used is microbiology where new techniques are being developed on a regular basis. Some of the applications include diagnostic microbiology, isolating rare cells, studying nano cells in biological processes.
Another interesting use of magnetic properties is its lifting capabilities in the transportation industry with use of the maglev (magnetic levitation) trains using Electromagnetic Suspension (EMS). There are EMS trains operating are the Linimo in Japan, the Shanghai Maglev Train in China, and in Daejeon, Korea a one kilometer line built for the Daejeon Expo in 1993. There are a number of experimental systems built in the US, but none have come to fruition yet.
See the links below for more information on these diverse uses of magnetic separation.
Magnetic separation is used to get magnetic particles such as Iron to stick to a magnet when it is passing over a group of substances.
when 2 substances are separated by magnets
Mining and recycling plus more but I don't know the rest
argentite
Yes.
chromatography
Using the separating funnel method can be separated mixtures of liquids with different densities.
distillation centrifuge magnet filter
A "hard method of separation" is not an expression in chemistry.
Try a magnet!
use a magnet for separating it the iron fillings will go to the magnet and the sulfer will stay on the ground :)
It can easily be separated by the process of magnetic separation.
that is the method that the method is a method
methods in separating
If you put the magnet near the iron fillings, they will be drawn out by the magnetic pull of the magnet.
Paper chromatography is a method.
Yes.
chromatography
The simplest method is decantation.
This metod is called filtration.
Using the separating funnel method can be separated mixtures of liquids with different densities.
