The greatest cause of hunger is greed, Greed for power and greed for wealth. These lead to wars and poverty and the destruction of the infrastructure required to overcome the effects of drought, blight, and bad farming practices. Competition among the manufacturers of food and other products in the wealthy country's also put poor country's in a position where they can never begin to build up their wealth and infrastructure because their prices are forced down so far that earnings dwindle to a pittance.

Hunger is caused by hormones called Gherlin and Neuropeptide Y. In some cases, the production of these hormones increases and the person eats too much. Eating too much results in obesity or overweight. According to a popular Japanese diet, a person should eat no more before getting full, about 80% full only. This method also trains the brain to set limits on food intake.
