Trinidad and Tobago is a Parliamentary Democratic Republic.

National Government- The citizens elected the House of Representatives in a general election. The party with the most seats selects a Prime Minister, who selects his cabinet, and forms a government. The party with the second most seats forms the Opposition and selects the Opposition Leader. The Senate is appointed by the President (16 on advice of the Prime Minister, 6 on advice of the Opposition Leader, and 9 at his own descretion). The President is elected by an Electorial Collage, composing of the members of both Houses of Parliament.

Local Government- Local Government Councillors are elected by the citizens. It is divided into 14 local government bodies (2 cities, 3 bouroughs, and 9 regions).

It is a Parliamentary Democratic Republic, with a President (indirectly elected) as head of state, a Prime Minister as head of government, a Cabinet, and a bicameral Parliament consisting of the direcly elected House of Representatives and appointed Senate.

The three branches are executive, leglislative, and judicial.

The two levels are National and Local.
